On March 12th, with the last batch of concrete poured into the reinforcing steel framework, the casting of the first pier for the Lanhe Extra-Large Bridge on the Kangyu section of the Xibei-Chongqing High-Speed Railway was successfully completed. This marks the transition from foundation works to substructure construction for the bridge, while also kicking off the main bridge construction for the project.

The Lanhe Extra-Large Bridge on the Kangyu section has a total length of 674.15 meters, with 132 pile foundations, 10 piers and hollow piers, and 12 piers. Seven of the piers have a height exceeding 40 meters, with the tallest reaching 97 meters. The bridge is located in a river terrace landform with steep slopes and numerous interference factors, making it a key difficult project along the entire Kangyu High-Speed Rail line. The No. 3 pier cast this time is 19.8 meters long, 9.5 meters wide, and 4 meters high, requiring over 600 cubic meters of concrete.

To ensure smooth casting operations, the construction unit guided the participating units to implement refined management, strengthen the operation of safety and quality management mechanisms, and reinforce management responsibilities. Particularly in terms of safety, a grid-based on-site management system was implemented, with enhanced safety supervision and inspections for key operations, special locations, critical construction stages, and high-risk sub-projects.

Meanwhile, the construction unit’s project department strengthened dynamic on-site management, strictly implemented safety, quality, and technical briefings, optimized construction arrangements, and had technical personnel provide full-process monitoring to ensure the concrete pouring proceeded smoothly in accordance with standardized construction requirements through layered pouring and batching. After nearly 13 consecutive hours of construction, the casting of the first pier for the Lanhe Extra-Large Bridge on the Kangyu section was successfully completed.

It’s worth noting that the Xibei-Chongqing High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Beijing-Kunming Corridor and the Baotou-Yinchuan-Haikou Corridor within China’s “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed rail network, holding a crucial position in the overall network. Upon completion, it will connect with the already operational Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway, the Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway, as well as the under-construction Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway, Xi’an-Yan’an High-Speed Railway, and Xi’an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway, further improving the transportation network structure in central and western China and greatly facilitating travel for residents along the line.
