The Bi-Tong Line of Chongqing’s urban rail transit system is an east-west metropolitan area intercity rapid rail line. It serves as a demonstration line to accelerate the integrated development of the Chengdu-Chongqing metropolitan area and the coordinated regional development of the “One Circle, Two Clusters”. It is also a demonstration line for the integration of Chongqing’s high-speed rail, regional rail, and subway systems, the “Three Rails”.

On March 12th, it was learned from the Bi-Tong Line project department that nearly 90% of the track-laying for the entire line has been completed, with only the Yunwushan Tunnel section remaining. The construction team is currently intensifying efforts, and it is expected that track-laying will be linked through the entire line by the end of this month.

It is noteworthy that construction is being carried out simultaneously at both the entrance and exit of the Yunwushan Tunnel, with separate work on the left and right lines, effectively creating four work faces within one tunnel to further improve efficiency. “Construction on the tunnel entrance section began on March 4th. Currently, 400 meters of track has been laid on the left line, and 520 meters on the right line. At the tunnel exit, 2.3 kilometers has been laid on the left line and 500 meters on the right line. It is expected to be linked through by the end of March,” explained on-site construction personnel.
It is understood that the Bi-Tong Line starts from Bishan Station in Bishan District and terminates at Tongliangxi Station in Tongliang District, with a total length of approximately 37 kilometers and a designed speed of 140 km/h. Upon completion, the travel time from Tongliang to downtown Chongqing will only be 40 minutes.
