On March 21st, with the installation of the last steel truss beam completed, the steel truss beam of the Daheban Super Bridge, a key project along the Yanjiang Expressway in Jinyang County, achieved accurate closure, becoming the first arch bridge on the entire Yanjiang Expressway with the upper steel structure installed. This lays a solid foundation for achieving the goal of opening the entire Yanjiang Expressway to traffic by 2025.

The Daheban Super Bridge is a half-through steel concrete arch bridge with a main span of 360 meters. The maximum weight of the steel truss beams is 154 tons. During the installation of the steel truss beams, the project adopted a non-lateral displacement saddle scheme, which greatly reduced the wear on the hoisting system and improved its turnover rate. Specifically, during the hoisting process, after active communication with a third-party monitoring unit and repeated temperature corrections on site, the installation curve achieved zero deviation from the monitoring curve, realizing accurate closure.

The Yanjiang Expressway is currently the highway construction project with the largest single investment scale, longest mileage within Sichuan Province, and greatest construction difficulty in the history of highway construction in China. It is a major supporting project for the national strategies of the “Belt and Road” and the “Yangtze River Economic Belt,” as well as an important outbound corridor from Chengdu to the Panxi Economic Zone, connecting to South Asia and reaching the sea via the Yangtze River. It is planned to open to traffic in 2025. After completion, not only will it unblock a major national expressway route and further improve Sichuan’s expressway network, but it will also end the history of Leibo and Jinyang Counties not having access to expressways. This will play a supporting role for transportation in Liangshan Prefecture’s comprehensive promotion of rural revitalization and urban-rural integration and regional coordinated development.
