On March 12th, with the installation of the last box girder on the right span of the Dongsheng Village No. 2 Bridge, the second contract section of the Bainan (Baiguo to Nanyue) Expressway, with a main line length of 11.24 kilometers and 13 designed bridges, completed the installation of all box girders, marking the entry into a new stage of construction for this section. Upon completion, the project will transversely connect the Xuguang Expressway and the Jinggang’ao Expressway, two major north-south trunk lines, significantly improving regional transportation for Hengdong and Hengshan, and promoting the development of tourism in the Nanyue Hengshan area. On the same day, the right span of the 577-meter-long Maozhou No. 1 Bridge, one of the key control node projects of the Zhangguan (Zhangjiajie to Guanzhuang) Expressway, was successfully connected on schedule, laying a solid foundation for the connection of the entire bridge.

Additionally, the Dongtingxi Yuanshui Extra-Large Bridge, a key control project along the entire Zhangguan Expressway, recently welcomed its first important milestone after resuming work and production – the left tower column on the south tower (Guanzhuang side) successfully broke through the 100-meter mark, officially entering the ultra-high-altitude construction stage for the main tower. The Dongtingxi Yuanshui Extra-Large Bridge is an 800-meter-span double-tower single-span suspension bridge, the largest suspension bridge under construction in Hunan Province.

Recently, with the precise installation of the last prefabricated box girder on the Xiangpulun Extra-Large Bridge, the left and right spans of the third contract section of the Yichang Expressway expansion project were fully connected, marking another stage of progress in the project’s construction. Since the installation of the first prefabricated box girder on March 16, 2023, the project team overcame various difficulties such as the safety risks of installing box girders across existing roads and relocation of high-voltage lines. They developed detailed construction plans, strengthened on-site safety and quality control, and ensured precise operations during all stages of girder hoisting, transportation, and installation, adhering to standardized construction practices. After 324 days and nights of work, the box girder installation task was finally completed, bringing the box girder installation work for the third contract section of the Yichang Expressway expansion project to a successful conclusion. Upon opening, this route will connect with the Changyi Expressway expansion project, forming a new expressway corridor to the northwestern Hunan region, significantly alleviating traffic pressure on the routes between Changsha and Yiyang, Changde, and other areas.
