On March 10th, the main bridge of the Sanhou River Extra-Large Bridge, a key control node project of the Xuxu to Guanyun section (Phase I project) of the Lian-Su Expressway, was successfully joined, laying a solid foundation for the through operation of the entire Lian-Su Expressway and marking a major progress in the construction of the Lianyungang section.
The Phase I project of the Lian-Su Expressway starts from 1 km east of the intersection of Fangyang Road in Xuxu New District of Lianyungang City and National Highway 228, and ends at the intersection of the project road south of Xiaoyizhen Township, Guanyun County and the Chang-Shen Expressway, with a total length of 40.653 km. It is designed as a dual four-lane highway with a speed limit of 120 km/h. The Sanhou River Extra-Large Bridge is located in the third section, with a total length of 1,981.2 meters, a bridge width of 27 meters, and constructed using the suspended gantry method.
It is reported that since the start of construction, land acquisition, demolition, and soft soil treatment for the entire Phase I project of the Lian-Su Expressway have been successfully completed. Roadbed and bridge construction has commenced in full swing. In 2023, the project completed an investment of 2.617 billion yuan, accounting for 101% of the annual plan and exceeding the annual target. The project has been designated as a “Demonstration Project” for the municipal-level “Century Quality Project” and a “Demonstration Project” for the provincial-level “Safe Construction Site.” Through the joint efforts of all parties involved in the construction, the roadbed work of the Phase I project has currently completed 90% and is in the pre-loading stage; the bridge work has completed 90% and is in the final stage of deck paving. The project is scheduled to be handed over to the pavement contractor in June this year. The Phase II project of the Lian-Su Expressway in Lianyungang is planned to commence in September this year and will be fully completed and open to traffic in 2027.
