Recently, the casting of the first deep foundation pit cap for main pier No. 3539 of the Mangdao River Cable-stayed Bridge on the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway project was completed, marking a solid step towards the construction of the upper tower structure.

The Mangdao River Cable-stayed Bridge is a concrete cable-stayed bridge with a deck width of 14.5 meters and a main tower height of 74.5 meters. The bridge pier foundations consist of 30 piles with a diameter of 2 meters. The bridge length is 522.3 meters, and the main bridge caps adopt a construction method using a reinforced concrete and interlocking steel pipe pile cofferdam, cast in two phases, with a designed concrete volume of 4,261.2 cubic meters and a steel consumption of 182 tons.
To ensure the successful casting of this cap, the project department took proactive measures from multiple aspects, including optimizing solutions, prioritizing material logistics, and implementing detailed construction management. This helped overcome challenges such as numerous preliminary processes, technical complexities, and extensive interfering work areas, creating favorable conditions for the smooth casting.
The Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway is part of China’s “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed rail network, mainly serving and supporting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and promoting coordinated development among the eastern, central, and western regions. Upon completion and opening to traffic, it will further improve the Yangtze River high-speed rail corridor, establishing a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor for the Yangtze River Economic Belt, enhancing the corridor’s transportation capacity and service quality, and promoting regional economic and social coordinated development.
